There is always light ...

there is always light if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it. (2).png

Today is a good day. It is a historical day full of hope and light. A light that is shining brilliantly on the possibilities of what #diversity, #equity, #courage, #joy, and #change could look like. Today is a day that enveloped me with #pride and the strength to continue being #brave for those who come after me.

"THERE IS ALWAYS LIGHT IF ONLY WE'RE BRAVE ENOUGH TO SEE IT. IF ONLY WE'RE BRAVE ENOUGH TO BE IT." - AMANDA GORMAN

The women who stood on the 2021 Inauguration stage today represent so much more than the titles they hold, their race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, or education level.

  • These women personify dreams realized.

  • These women pursue passion.

  • These women embrace honesty.

  • These women empower leadership.

  • These women harness courage.

  • These women hail victories.

  • These women overcome challenges.

  • These women own authenticity.

  • These women embody opportunity.

Today women of all backgrounds are able to see themselves represented. Today doors are opened, ladders are climbed, and arms are extended in support of lifting others. Today is a good day.

P.S. Youth poet laureateAmanda Gorman's poemat Biden's inauguration today was full of a plethora of powerful and compelling messages. If you haven't seen or heard it yet, I highly encourage you to do so. Here are a few other quotes that gave me the feels and helped bring focus to the future we are working to create:

  • "We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace, and the norms and notions of what “just” is isn’t always justice."

  • "We are striving to forge our union with purpose. To compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and conditions of man. And so we lift our gaze, not to what stands between us, but what stands before us. We close the divide because we know to put our future first, we must first put our differences aside."

  • "If we merge mercy with might, and might with right, then love becomes our legacy and change our children’s birthright."
